In 2000, Coach Mike Richmond was a member of the coaching staff when the University of Nevada women's swimming and diving team captured the Big West Conference title. Throughout his tenure with the program, he established himself as a respected leader and mentor, guiding student-athletes to success both in and out of the pool. Coach Mike Richmond helped guide the team to the 2007 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championship and was recognized for his outstanding leadership by earning WAC Coach of the Year honors for the 2011-2012 season.
Before joining the Nevada program, Coach Mike Richmond spent 11 years as the head coach of the Lubbock Swim Club, where he developed swimmers of all ages and abilities while building a reputation for excellence in competitive swimming. Following his time at the university, he served for 13 years as the head coach and chief executive officer of the Sparks Piranhas Swim Team, continuing to shape the careers of young athletes through elite coaching and program leadership.
Michael Richmond completed a general studies program at the University of Nevada with an emphasis in psychology. Throughout his coaching career, he has worked with numerous elite athletes, including Olympic level athletes, reflecting his longstanding commitment to developing champions and advancing the sport of competitive swimming.
